Lists: Movies/TV Shows

Movies released in 2011/2012 I want to see:
Don’t be afraid of the dark – Katie Holmes will always be young Joey to me and I miss seeing her on the screen so this movie sounds a pleasure. But why oh why do horror movies always have to be about moving in to a new house? = Watched
Jane Eyre – One classic tale which I’ve still not read or seen an adaptation, thus: this one with Micky sounds perfect!
Soul Surfer – It’s the story which has won me to catch this film, seems very inspirational.
You Instead – There is a 1 to 500,000 chance that I could be in this music movie. It was filmed in T in the Park in 2010 so I have no choice but to go and watch it.
A Lonely Place to Die – I usually don’t like scary movies, but this one set up in the mountains where they find a kidnapped girl, sounds very interesting.
Like Crazy – Cute little indie love story here. 500 Days of Summer without the humour. = Watched
Apollo 18 – My obsession for all things alien makes this movie a must.
Warrior – Tom Hardy. Do I need to explain anymore? I have to admit, I think this movie is going to rival X-men: First Class as my favourite movie of the year. I even cried at the trailer, terribly sad. Yep it is officially my favourite movie of 2011 so far. Review will be posted shortly.
Drive – Not too sure about this film, but it is getting many great reviews and the storyline sounds rather appealing.
Abduction – Nowhere near a total must see although it seems like an easy film to go and watch, even though the storylines a bit obscure. = Watched
Dolphin Tale – Based on a true story and I do really like movies about the sea, even though I’m extremely scared of fish!
50-50 – Who doesn’t want Joseph Gordon-Levitt right at home in a cute indie drama?
Real Steel – I’ve only saw the trailer once, but it still has remained attached in my mind so I’m going to try and stay clear of the trailer and any other forms of advertisements, which there has been a lot of recently, and try the movie out and see how it goes.
Melancholia– I gained the shock of my life when I watched this trailer because that image of Kirsten Dunst lying in the water in her wedding dress is a similar image that I wanted to use for a book cover! It was near enough identical, except in my design the women was wearing a black wedding dress. This is the kind of strange films I like and I do really think it will be good, even if the story goes nowhere in particular…
Sleeping Beauty – The trailer doesn’t give much away, but it seems quite interesting.
Monte Carlo – I’ve wanted to watch this film for ages! It’s been out in the states for so long now that I’m starting to not even care about it now. It’s really just a cute teen movie with the essence of The Parent Trap and Princess Protection Programme so it will do fine for me! = Watched
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy – I don’t know what it is about this movie, but even though I know that I should be really excited about it, I’m honestly not that interested in it. I should really like it because it’s all about communication and less of annoying spy action but I just think it looks a little well… boring. The only reason why I’m going to see it because Tom Hardy’s in it and it also has such an amazing cast it’s unreal! Usually when I’m really uninterested in a movie I love it more than anyone who was excited to see it, so I think this film will go down a similar route.
LOL – Hahaha oh what a tres amusing title, my ribs are aching. No, seriously, I’ve wanted to see this movie for about a year now and I have like seen every single teen movie ever made so I don’t want to miss this. Although I want to watch the French version first but I don’t think there are any English subtitles. ..
We Need To Talk About Kevin – Such a devastating story that you can tell it’s going to be horribly tragic to watch, although the trailer seems quite joyful and stays clear of the main subject… very strange. = Watched
Wuthering Heights – I just want to compare this with the BBC version and it is a fantastic story so it really is one I can’t miss.
Hugo – Martin Scorsese attempt at a children’s movie which I think will go down rather well, although it seems to have just moulded the plotlines of many other classics into one. = Watched
Footloose – I know I’m going to love this movie even though I really really want to hate it. The eighties version is just class and judging by the trailer they’ve taking all the beauty out of innocent dancing with doing Hip hop or whatever. = Watched
Anonymous – I do like enjoy conspiracy theories and this one about Shakespeare not writing his own plays and sonnets is right up my street.
Restless – Mia is just becoming better and better with each film so it will be good to see her performance in this, also to see how co-star Henry Hopper plays out.
The Help – This is another film which I don’t seem extremely fascinated by but it will be one I will end up loving. It’s going to be a very sad yet triumphant story, I think.
In Time – I’m really stupid because I don’t totally understand what’s going on here, nevertheless it seems quite sci-fi, so once I get my head around it, it looks good. = Watched
My Week With Marilyn – Can’t find a trailer for this but I do love Michelle Williams and it would be good to find out more about the 60s beauty. = Watched
Puss in Boots – I was never a fan of Puss In Boots (stealing Donkeys thunder) although it does seem awfully funny and you can usually rely on DreamWorks for pure entertainment.
J.Edgar – Completely different story to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, but there are a few similarities which puts me off it, I really don’t know why I’m like that. However, I’ve been wanting to see this film for a while so I’m sure it will be fantastic, but the trailer wasn’t exceedingly good. = Watched
Breaking Dawn – What can I say, I read the book, would quite like to see the film, even though nothing actually happens. = Watched
Arthur Christmas – This just seems unbelievably cute. Probably wouldn’t go and see it if it wasn’t for McAvoy, but it will be good to get into the Christmas spirit.
New Year’s Eve – Valentine’s Day Part 2. Nothing special although it will be easy to watch. = Watched
Sherlock Holmes: Game Of Shadows – I love Sherlock Holmes so this is one I’m depending on to do justice. Although, I sadly believe it will disappoint me, just like the first one did. = Watched
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – Adding a ‘The’ and here we have a new movie! In all honesty I’ve still not seen the original, but I will before I go and see this.
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – I don’t think I’ve ever seen a full Mission: Impossible movie so this gives me the chance to watch the three previous films and then go and see this on the big screen.
The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn – I am so unbelievably excited for this film. The only disappointment is that it uses motion capture. When watching the trailer there would just be an extra element if it was in live action. But, I suppose they are trying to make it seem more like the comics so it will be a success. = Watched
War Horse – Ok, the trailer doesn’t grip me with excitement and I understand the music is trying to create a mood, but it’s sadly not working for me. I really want to see Jeremy Irvine in this as I did watch him in the terrible, Life Bites, and if he can really pull it off in this movie it will just so how if programmes are terrible, it can make actors seem as though they shouldn’t have bothered.

  1. That’s quite an extensive list. And I thought my tastes were wide-ranging! I see one glaring omission from the tv show part though: The Wire (best television show ever®) 🙂

    • Hahaha, I know there’s so much to watch in this world, I’ve not a clue how to fit it all in! I’ve always wanted to watch The Wire. I’ll definitely have to rent the first season out and just spend the whole day watching it 🙂
